Photoshop as Theological Inquiry
I have recently begun the steep curve of learning Photoshop. There is a lot I don't understand and some I probably never will but one of the features has captured my theological imagination. It's called an opacity slider. You begin by layering two photographs. The top photograph is all you see until you move the opacity slider. At a high opacity you still mostly see the top photograph but as the opacity gets lower the top photograph begins to fade and the bottom photograph becomes clearer. At zero opacity all you see is the bottom photograph.
Here is where my theological imagination comes in. Imagine a picture of your current life as the top photograph. That photo includes your thoughts, attitudes and ways of being some of which have already been transformed into Christ likeness but some of which have not. The bottom photograph is still a picture of your life but now reflected only in its pure Christlike nature. As you move the opacity slider from 100% towards zero what you see is all of the non-Christlike characteristics, that are currently in your life, begin to disappear leaving only a picture of you has God intends you to be. What would that picture look like and what are you doing to cooperate with the Holy Spirit to move the opacity slider of your life towards zero?
If I can be of any help as you continue your journey towards Christ likeness please let me know.
